1) BK 지원대학원생

가. 지원자격: 2022-1학기 기준 석사 1-4학기, 박사 1-8학기 내/외국인 재학생

* 국가연구장학금, 우수외국인장학금 및 학석사연계장학금 수혜자, 정부초청장학생, 기타 외부장학금 등 타 장학금 수혜자의 경우에는 지원 불가능

* 장학금 선정을 위해 고려되는 최근 학기의 GPA가 최저 3.3 이상. 직전 학기까지 한 과목이라도 F가 있을 경우, 혹은 C⁺ 이하의 성적이 2개 이상일 경우BK 지원 및 참여 자격을 영구적으로 상실

* 4대보험 직장가입자 제외 (4대보험 지역가입자 혹은 피부양자는 지원 가능). 단, 6학점 이하의 시간강의를 하는 경우에는 지원 가능

나. 혜택

ㄱ. BK장학금 수혜: 한 학기 기준 석사 약 450만원 이상, 박사 약 780만원 이상, 박사수료과정생 약 600만원 이상

ㄴ. BK참여대학원생 혜택 (출판 가능한 글이 있는 경우, 해외학술대회 및 장/단기 연수프로그램 참가 제경비 지원, 논문 게재시 인센티브 지급)

다. 업무

ㄱ. 개별업무 (주 5-6시간): 일반 교수님 조교, 학과장 조교, 대학원 주임 조교, BK사업단장 조교, BK사업단 조교,

English Language Informatics Lab (ELI Lab) & EWTS (학부생 영어글쓰기 튜터링) 조교장 중 1개

2) BK 참여대학원생

가. 지원자격: 2022-1학기 기준 석사 1-4학기, 박사 1-8학기 내/외국인 재학생 중 BK 지원대학원생에 지원하지 않는 자

* 4대보험 직장가입자 제외 (4대보험 지역가입자 혹은 피부양자는 지원 가능). 단, 6학점 이하의 시간강의를 하는 경우에는 지원 가능

* 석사 1-4학기의 내/외국인 재학생이 BK 지원대학원생에 지원했으나 선발되지 않은 경우에는, 자동으로 BK 참여대학원생으로 분류됨

나. 혜택: 출판 가능한 글이 있는 경우 해외학술대회 및 장/단기 연수프로그램 참가 제경비 지원, 논문 게재시 인센티브 지급

다. 업무: 별도의 조교 업무 없음

3) 학과일반조교(Non-BK)

가. 지원자격: 2022-1학기 기준 석사 1-4학기, 박사 1-8학기 내/외국인 재학생 중 BK 지원/참여대학원생에 지원하지 않은 자

* 국가연구장학금, 우수외국인장학금 및 학석사연계장학금 수혜자, 정부초청장학생, 기타 외부장학금 등 타 장학금 수혜자는 원칙적으로 제외. 지원 희망시 석사조교장에게 개별 문의 요망

* BK 지원대학원생에 지원하였으나 선발되지 않은 경우, 학과일반조교로 지원이 가능할 수 있으니 석사조교장에게 개별 문의

나. 혜택: 학과일반조교 장학금 수혜 한 학기 기준 약 150-200만원

다. 업무: 일반 교수님 조교, 학과장 조교, 대학원 주임 조교, BK사업단장 조교, BK사업단 조교 중 1개

3. 신청기간 및 방법

1) 신청기간: ~ 2022.01.30.(일) 낮 12시 (***반드시 마감기한을 반드시 지켜 주시기 바랍니다.***)

2) 신청방법:

(1) 첨부한 신청서 양식을 꼼꼼히 검토 후 신청서를 작성하여 본 메일 englishta@yonsei.ac.kr의 답장 형식으로 신청서를 보내주시기 바랍니다.

(2) 코로나로 인하여 이메일 제출만을 받을 예정이오니 반드시 파일 제목에 이름 및 제출 서류명을 적어주시기 바랍니다. 예) "홍길동_논문 증빙서류 A"

* 미비된 서류가 있을 경우 장학생 선발과정에서 불이익이 있으므로 반드시 필요한 지원서류를 모두 제출해주시기 바랍니다.

특히, 성적증명서와 논문투고/게재(예정)증명서, 투고형식을 갖춘 논문이 있으신 분들께서는 반드시 서류제출시 함께 제출해주시기 바랍니다.

다만, 재학 중 학술지에 게재된 논문이 있는 석사 과정생의 경우 서류1 제출을 면제하고 출판된 논문의 서지 정보만을 명시.

(3) 유튜브 비디오 (BK 지원/참여 대학원생 한정)

* 1년에 유튜브 영상 1편 제작 의무가 있습니다.

* 유튜브 영상 문학/어학/수사학 관련 주제로 a) 고등학생 혹은 일반 대중 b) 대학원생 혹은 전문 지식을 갖춘 대중을 대상으로 하는 짧은 유튜브 강의 동영상(5-7분)을 제작

*장학금 신청서에 동영상 유튜브 링크를 함께 제출

4. 기타 안내 및 유의사항

1) 가계곤란자 우선 선발

가계곤란자의 경우, 신청서의 "지원영역"란에 "가계곤란으로 신청 요망"을 표기해 주시고,

(1) 부/모의 소득 증빙자료 각 1부 (부/모 명의 각 1부, 필수)

(2) 부/모의 건강보험료 납부확인서 각 1부

(3) 그 외 기타 가계곤란 증빙서류를 제출해주시기 바랍니다.

* 초과학기생의 경우, 가계곤란 관련 서류를 제출하시면 정규학기생 배정 후 최우선자로 추천됨을 알려드립니다.

2) 신청 기한을 엄수해 주시기 바랍니다.

3) 유튜브 강의 동영상 관련 사항

* 1년에 한번 씩 유튜브 제작 의무가 있습니다. 지난 학기 BK신청 시 유튜브 동영상을 제출하셨다면 "21-2학기 제출: (링크첨부)"라고 서류와 메일 모두에 명시해주시기 바랍니다. 

* 단, 동영상이 유튜브에 계속해서 존재해야 하며, 링크 확인이 가능해야 하므로 유튜브 영상을 공개로 유지하시기 바랍니다.

* 21-2 학기에 유튜브 동영상을 제작하지 않은 재학생 분들께서는 동영상을 제작해주시고 서류와 메일에 유튜브 링크를 함께 첨부하여 보내주십시오.

* 유튜브 영상 관련:

*강의자의 얼굴이 나오지 않는 동영상도 가능합니다. 다만 슬라이드에 강의를 요약한 내용을 보여주고, 강의자의 목소리가 들어가면 됩니다.

* 강의 예시는 아래 링크의 서홍원 교수님 샘플 강의를 참고하시기 바랍니다:

* 유튜브 강의는 별도의 공지가 있을 때까지 공개로 유지하셔야 합니다: 이는 지식 생산과 인문학 대중화에 기여하고자 하는 영어영문학과 BK21사업단의 취지를 살리기 위해 일정 기간 동안 대중이 접근할 수 있도록 하기 위함입니다.

* 1년에 한번씩 장학생 지원 때마다 새로운 동영상을 업로드해야 하며, 강의에서 다루는 작가와 작품 등을 이전과 달리해야 합니다

* 우수 유튜브 영상 시상: 우수 유튜브 영상 다수 선정 예정

4) 학술대회, 유튜브, Y-DEC 의무 요건 관련 안내사항 (중요)

가. 학기 산정 방법

(1) BK 장학금 신청시 충족해야 하는 요건(유튜브, 학술대회, Y-DEC)에서 말하는 1년 단위는 이전 학기 BK 장학금 수여의 여부와 상관없이 학생의 재학 학기 기준

(2) 석사생의 경우 1-2학기, 3-4학기를 한 1년 단위로, 박사생의 경우 1-2학기, 3-4학기, 5-6학기, 7-8학기를 각 한 1년 단위로 산정

예를 들어,

*학술대회 발표의 경우 석사생은 1-2학기에 최소 1번, 3-4학기에 최소 1번의 학술대회 발표를 하여야 합니다.

*박사생의 경우는 1-2학기, 3-4학기, 5-6학기, 7-8학기에 각 최소 1번의 발표를 하여야 합니다.

*만약 석사생이 1학기에 BK 장학금을 받지 않았으며 2학기에 최초로 BK 장학생에 선발 되었다고 하더라도 해당 학생은 1-2학기의 1년 단위에 속하기 때문에 3학기 BK 장학생에 지원하기 이전에 1-2학기의 1년 단위에 해당하는 학술대회 발표 최소 1번과 유튜브 영상 게시 최소 1번의 의무를 충족하여야 합니다.

나. 학술대회 발표 의무

(1) BK 지원대학원생은 석/박사과정 학생 모두 1년 1회 이상 학술대회(국내 및 국제)에서 발표 의무가 있음

(2) 마지막 수혜학기(석사 4학기, 박사 8학기) 장학생 지원시에는 마지막 해의 발표의무를 이미 충족한 경우에만 장학생으로 선발

(3) 1년 1회 이상의 학술대회 발표 요건을 충족하지 못하였을 경우, 다음 학기 장학생 선발시 결격 사유로 작용

예를 들어,

*1-2학기에 해당하는 석사생의 경우, 1학기나 2학기에 학술대회 발표 요건을 충족하여 발표 증빙서를 교육연구단에 제출하여야 합니다. 3학기에 진급하기 이전의 실적산정기간까지 요건을 충족하지 못할 경우, 3학기 장학생 선발시 결격 사유가 됩니다.

*다음 학기에 4학기로 진급 예정인 석사생의 경우, 3학기에 학술대회에서 발표를 하거나 다음 학기(4학기)에 예정된 학술대회 발표에 대한 증빙서류를 교육연구단에 제출하여 이를 발표실적으로 앞당겨 인정받을 수 있습니다.

다. 유튜브 영상 제출 의무

(1) BK 지원 및 참여대학원생은 전공관련 최소 5분 길이의 동영상을 1년 1회 제작하고 이를 게시하여 교육연구단에서 평가

(2) 마지막 수혜학기(석사 4학기, 박사 8학기) 장학생 지원시에는 마지막 해의 유튜브 게시 의무를 이미 충족한 경우에만 장학생에 지원 가능

(3) 1년 1회의 유튜브 게시 의무를 충족하지 못하였을 경우, 다음 학기 장학생 선발시 결격 사유로 작용

예를 들어,

*1-2학기에 해당하는 석사생의 경우, 1학기나 2학기에 유튜브 게시 의무를 충족하여 해당 영상의 링크를 교육연구단에 통보하여야 합니다. 3학기 장학생 신청시까지 요건을 충족하지 못할 경우, 3학기 장학생 선발시 결격 사유가 됩니다.

*4학기 진급 예정인 석사생의 경우, 4학기 장학생 신청 이전/신청시에 영상 링크를 교육연구단에 통보하여야 합니다.

라. Y-DEC 미디어 응용프로그램 수강 의무

(1) BK 지원 및 참여대학원생은 첫 1.5년의 기간 내에 Y-DEC에서 제공하는 미디어 응용프로그램 중 최소 한 과목을 수강하고 수강 증빙자료를 교육연구단에 제출. Y-DEC 수강 요건을 충족하지 못할 경우 다음 학기 장학생 선발시 결격 사유로 작용

예를 들어,

*석사생의 경우 4학기 장학금 신청시까지 Y-DEC 수강 요건을 충족하지 못할 경우 4학기에는 장학생 선발시 결격 사유가 됩니다.

*박사생의 경우 만약 6학기에 BK 장학생 신청을 한다면 5-6학기를 1년으로, 7학기를 0.5년으로 산정하여 8학기 신청시까지 Y-DEC 수강 요건을 충족하지 못할 경우 8학기 장학생 선발시 결격 사유가 됩니다.

Below is the English guideline for applying for 2022-1 BK21 Project Scholarship and Non-BK Department TA Scholarship.

Brain Korea 21+ Project is a government-funded human resources program that seeks to promote and advance the education and scholarship of graduate students. As a graduate student, there are two ways to be involved in the BK21+ Project: 1) BK fellowship recipient or 2) participatory student.

Alternatively, you can choose to apply for 3) non-BK student scholarships.

1. Types of BK scholarship, benefits, eligibility

1) BK Fellowship Recipient

(1) Eligibility Requirements

a. Full-time MA students within semesters 1-4 or PhD students within semesters 1-8. They must not hold any employment, neither inside nor outside the university, and should be able to spend 40 hrs or more per week on study.

b. They must not be recipients of any other scholarships or fellowships from the Graduate School, unless approved by the graduate program director

c. They must have a minimum GPA of 3.3/4.3 during the previous semester, with no grades of F and no more than one grade of C+ (or lower) in any preceding semester

d. Teaching is limited to 6 credit hours a week.

(2) Benefits

a. A scholarship of KRW 4,500,000 or more for MA students without publications, KRW 5,000,000 or more for MA students with publications, KRW 7,800,000 for Ph.D. students, KRW 6,000,000 for Ph.D candidates per semester (all amounts are approximate)

- The specific scholarship amount will be determined by the graduate school administrative committee each semester. 

- For MA students, students will receive different amounts of funding depending on their publishing records.

b. Participation in paper publication and conference workshops 

c. Full funding for attending domestic and overseas conferences and educational programs (conditional)

* Be sure to obtain the BK office’s approval BEFORE applying to an overseas conference. 

d. Reimbursement of publication fees and bestowal of cash awards for scholarly productivity

(3) Responsibilities

a. Students should give at least one conference presentation per year

b. Journal publication [PhD students only]

- 1st-2nd semester: publication of a minimum of one single-authored paper or two co-authored papers in a KCI-listed or well-established overseas journal is required.

- 3rd-4th semester: the same as above

- 5th-8th semester: publication of a minimum of one single-authored paper or two co-authored papers per semester in a KCI-listed or well-established overseas journal is required. If an 8th-semester PhD student fails to publish a paper during the semester, he or she will receive a partial scholarship, the amount of which will be equivalent to that of a regular Graduate Teaching Assistant scholarship.

- Failing to meet the above publication requirement will result in disqualification from the BK fellowship selection process during the following semester.

c. Assisting in the assigned professors’ work (5-6 hours per week) related to teaching, research, or other scholarly activities

d. Attendance of workshops and seminars (posted as “must attend”) hosted by the department

e. Submission of a paper (part of MA thesis) to an academic journal within three months of graduation (MA students only)

f. If a student receives funding from the BK Office to attend an overseas conference, the student must submit the presentation (or another paper) to an academic journal within six months of the presentation date.

g. In case of co-authoring a paper, all participating authors must fill out, sign, and submit a hard copy of the Statement of Co-Authoring to the BK Office, preferably before journal submission.

h. Media Literacy and Data Literacy Requirements

2) BK Participatory Student

2. Non-BK Student [Ask the head TA if you wish to apply]

(1) Eligibility Requirements: MA students within semesters 1-4 or PhD students within semesters 1-8 who did not apply for the BK scholarship

* They must not be recipients of any other scholarships or fellowships from the Graduate School, unless approved by the graduate program director

(2) Benefits: Scholarship of KRW 1,500,000 - 2,000,000 per semester

(3) Responsibilities: GTA work of 4-6 hours per week

3. How to Apply

(1) Application Period: ~ 2022.01.30 (Sun) 12:00 PM (Noon). (Please submit your application on time)

(2) Complete and submit your application to the head TA email (englishta@yonsei.ac.kr)

(3) Due to the COVID-19, we will take the submissions only via email.

* Please submit all the necessary documents as there can be disadvantages with insufficient documents.

*Especially, if you have a Journal publication certificate, please submit it with your application form.

*An MA student who once published a paper is exempted from submitting Document #1 but needs to only indicate the bibliographical information of the published paper.)

(4) YouTube Video [for BK scholarship applicants only]

* BK scholarship recipients are required to make 1 YouTube Video per year.

* Create a short (5-7 minutes) YouTube lecture on the topic of English literature, linguistics, or rhetoric. Write down the link to your YouTube lecture in the application form.

*It is not required that the lecturer's face is shown in the video, but it should include the lecture notes on screen and voice narration. Please do not delete your video until further notice is made. When you are applying for the program every new semester, you should upload a new video with a different topic.

*YouTube requirement is applied in 1 year round. Therefore, for those of you who fulfilled their YouTube video requirement in the 21-2 semester, you don't need to create a new video for this semester.

-  However, your link should still remain available on YouTube.

- If you have fulfilled your YouTube video requirement in the 21-2 semester, please mention "Submitted in 21-2: (Link of your YouTube video)" in both application form and email.

*There also will be "Best YouTube Video Award

(5) Regarding the Requirements for Conference presentation, YouTube, Y-DEC (IMPORTANT)

a. Counting the Semester

- The 1 year term of the BK requirements refers to the following: 1-2 semester, 3-4 semester for MA students, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 semester for PhD students.

- This is regardless of whether a student received the BK scholarship the previous semesters.

For example,

*For MA students, they should give at least 1 Conference presentation and submit 1 YouTube video in their 1-2 semester, and 3-4 semester.

*For PhD students, they should give at least 1 Conference presentation and submit 1 YouTube video in their 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 semester.

*If a MA student did not receive the BK scholarship in one's 1st semester but applied for the scholarship in one's 2nd semester, the student should give at least 1 conference presentation and submit 1 YouTube before applying for the 3rd semester-BK scholarship.

b. Academic Conference Presentation Responsibility

- Required to present in at least one academic conference per year.

- Prior to applying for the 4th-semester BK scholarship, MA students should fulfill the 3-4th year conference presentation requirement.PhD students should fulfill the 7-8th year conference presentation requirement before applying for the 8th semester BK scholarship.

For example,

*If you are a MA student in your 1-2nd semester, you have to give a conference presentation before/by applying for the 3rd semester. If not, there can be a disadvantage in applying for the 3rd semester BK scholarship.

*If you are a MA student applying for the 4th semester’s BK scholarship, you should fulfill the conference presentation requirement of your 3-4th semester when submitting the application.

c. YouTube Video Submission Requirement

a. Required to post at least one YouTube video per year.

b. Prior to applying for the 4th-semester BK scholarship, MA students should fulfill the 3-4th year YouTube video requirement. PhD students should fulfill the 7-8th year YouTube video requirement before applying for the 8th semester BK scholarship.

For example,

*If you are a MA student in your 1-2nd semester, you have to submit a YouTube video before applying for the 3rd semester. If not, there can be a disadvantage in applying for the 3rd semester BK scholarship 

*If you are a MA student applying for the 4th semester BK scholarship, you should fulfill the YouTube video requirement of your 3-4thsemester when submitting the application.

d. Y-DEC

* All BK scholarship recipients and BK participatory students must take at least one session from the Y-DEC media literacy program within the 1-3rd semester for MA students. In case of PhD students, students should take at least one session in 1-3rd or 3-5th or 5-7th semester based on when the student applies for the BK scholarship. Also, students must submit the proof to the BK office.

For example,

*if you are a MA student, you should submit the proof of your receiving the Y-DEC program before/by applying for the 4th-semester BK scholarship. If you are a PhD student applying for the BK scholarship for the first time for your 6th semester, you should submit the proof within the 5-7th semester (You don't need to take any further programs from Y-DEC afterwards).

(6) Additional Notes

a. A record of your attendance of department workshops, seminars or colloquium from the previous semester may be considered during the fellowship/scholarship evaluation/selection process.

b. You must contact professors who you are assigned to work for as soon as you are notified of your work assignment.

c. Your performance on your job may affect your fellowship/scholarship for the following semester.

e. Depending on your work assignment, you may work on the Songdo International Campus.
